Meet Barkology Dog Training
Helping Metro Detroit Dogs and Their Humans Build a Better Life Together
At Barkology Dog Training, we believe training is about more than teaching tricks. It’s about helping you better understand your dog, build stronger communication, and feel confident navigating everyday challenges together.
Through personalized, reward-based dog training, we help puppy owners and families struggling with behavior challenges create lasting change through practical, real-life solutions.
Whether you’re raising a new puppy, working through manners, or looking for help with more challenging behaviors, Barkology provides customized training plans designed around your dog, your goals, and your lifestyle.
Meet Em, Founder & Certified Professional Dog Trainer
Hi, I’m Em, the founder of Barkology Dog Training and a Certified Professional Dog Trainer – Knowledge Assessed (CPDT-KA).
My journey into dog training started with my own dog, Oliver. Like many dog owners, I thought love and good intentions would be enough—but when Oliver struggled with challenges like reactivity, leash pulling, and separation anxiety, I realized how much the right guidance could change both a dog’s life and their human’s confidence.
That experience inspired me to become the trainer I am today: someone who helps owners feel supported, understood, and empowered through every step of their training journey.
At Barkology, my goal is not just to train your dog during our sessions. My goal is to teach you the skills, understanding, and confidence you need to continue helping your dog succeed long after training ends.

WHY CERTIFICATIONS MATTER
The dog training industry is largely unregulated, meaning anyone can claim to be a trainer, regardless of experience or qualifications. This can result in ineffective or harmful methods that may compromise your dog’s well-being and safety. Choosing a certified trainer ensures they’ve met rigorous standards, have a deep understanding of canine behavior, and use humane, science-based techniques.
As a CPDT-KA certified trainer, I’ve earned my credential through the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers (CCPDT). This certification ensures that I follow ethical, force-free training methods grounded in the latest research and prioritize your dog’s health, safety, and happiness.
